5 Things to Do in The Morning to Improve Your English Skills

Many English language students often complain about not having enough time to study the new language. However, just by introducing few and easy-to-do activities in your morning routine, you can already incorporate strong habits to help you become successful in learning English.

While these activities may seem very easy to do, making it a regular routine in the morning can be quite challenging. But just like brushing your teeth when you wake-up, these English language activities should become a non-negotiable part of your morning.

1.     Plan your day in English.

Instead of planning your day and writing your to-do-list in your native language, make an effort to express everything you want to in English. In this way, you can use the English language as a tool to stay organized and be reminded of your goals for the day.

2.    Read newspapers written in English.

It may sound like a cliche but reading news in English will help you become familiar with words used in various fields like politics, economy, sports and even entertainment. This may not be a walk in the park as this task may require you to read another newspaper written in your mother tongue to fully understand the gist of the news.

3.    Listen to music in English while in the shower.

Almost everyone loves listening to music while taking the shower. Why not take advantage of this opportunity to learn the English language? Immersing yourself to music in English allows you to become familiar with words and sounds, improves your vocabulary and listening skills, and helps you appreciate new music.

4.    Learn 5 new English words while eating breakfast.

If you have a very hectic schedule in the morning, you can squeeze in this seemingly tedious activity using a thesaurus mobile app. Don’t just memorize these English words as you may not remember them in the long run. Try to use it repeatedly and incorporate it in speaking and writing.

5. Speak to someone in English while commuting to work.

Considered as the most valuable communication skill everyone wants to learn, speaking with someone in English is one of the best approaches to learn the language. With social networks and other chat apps, you can easily connect with like-minded individuals willing to have brief English conversations with you while you’re on your way to work. You no longer have to allocate a separate time from your busy schedule to have English conversations. Moreover, this can turn the often disappointing time spent for commute into a productive activity.
